Project description

Cinebites is a movie-theater snack ordering app designed to help people skip long concession lines.
Users can order ahead, customize their snacks, and get them delivered to their seat without missing the movie.
The app also guides people toward healthier choices with clear nutrition info and alternative options.

Timeline

4 weeks: Discovery → Research → UX Architecture → Wireframes → UI System → High-Fidelity Prototype → Testing & Refinement.

Background

The project went through discovery, research, UX flows, wireframes, UI system creation, prototyping, and user testing.
I kept the scope tight so I could validate the ordering flow early and refine based on feedback.
Every phase focused on speed, clarity, and reducing friction.

Process

I ran interviews, surveyed moviegoers, reviewed competitor apps (AMC, Regal, UberEats, etc.), and mapped the end-to-end journey.
After understanding the pain points, I built low-fi flows, moved into high-fi designs, then tested with users.
This helped me confirm that speed and customization were the top priorities.

Research & Planning

Moviegoers’ biggest complaints were long lines, missing part of the movie, and slow service.
Users also said they’d order more frequently if the process felt faster and more convenient.
Health-conscious users struggled with unclear nutrition info and wanted better substitutions.
These insights shaped the core loop: Pick your theater → Choose snacks → Customize → Order ahead or to your seat.

Design & Prototyping

The interface focuses on quick scanning, easy customization, and seat-based delivery.
I used large food cards, simplified categories, and a clean modification screen so users can personalize orders fast.
The prototype included clear pickup vs. seat-delivery options, estimated prep times, and order tracking.

Development & Implementation

While not coded, I prepared the design as if it were going to devs.
I created tokens for spacing, type, color, and built reusable components for snack cards, modals, and delivery states.
The structure supports easy scaling to multiple theaters and seat maps.
